Superkids, in this April issue we will talk about money. Wow, feels like parents talking about money. Lol! But money is crucial indeed. Even that sometimes mom and dad will avoid talking when we ask about their salary :D. They will be like: “Don’t worry about money, just study hard and be smart.”…
But it’s true. Our parents go to work every day to make money for us. For our daily needs, our meal, to buy clothes, school fee, not to mention if we need anything else. For example, we want to buy handphone, DLSR camera, holidays … Wooo, those kind of stuffs must be carefully planned ahead, you know. They call it money management. For example if either Mom or Dad gives us a weekly allowance, we have to manage it to cover our snacks in a week, we keep it to have a nice hangout in the weekend with friends, or buy a gift for a friend’s birthday, or we save it to buy something we want for a long time. That means Superkids, we have learned to manage money or financial management. Exciting, huh?
There maybe times when you got confused watching Mom spends so much time in a Supermarket hallway staring at cooking oil prices. Actually, mom was deciding which one is the best for the entire family and convenient for the shopping budget. Or perhaps Mom always collects shopping coupons, vouchers and there are a lot of discount cards from many stores in her wallet. Yes, that is also another way to suppress the money flowing out.
So now you know Superkids, how dad always makes a fuss on Rp. 10.000 money, because if collected every day, Rp. 10.000 can be a lot of money, you know. It’s when Mom holds herself back from purchasing a new purse, instead buying your school equipment. She is separating the need from the want. This is a crucial skill that you need to get use to, Superkids. Just like when you ask for PS4 and dad said, “Why don’t you save your money and I’ll cover the rest later”. That’s dad asking you to learn saving money. It’s a very important behavior for your future life, Superkids.
