Starbucks Celebrates the 50th Drive-Thru Store in Indonesia
[Press Release] Jakarta, July 21st, 2022 – Today, Starbucks Indonesia announced the opening of its 50th drive-thru store. The milestone reinforces the company’s commitment to offering more seamless and convenient ways for customers in Indonesia to enjoy the Starbucks experience.
“For the past 20 years, Starbucks Indonesia has been committed to offering a warm and welcoming Starbucks experience to our customers. Today, we are proud to invite our customers to celebrate the opening of the 50th drive-thru store in Indonesia, located at Starbucks Drive-Thru Graha Raya Bintaro, Tangerang,” said Tico Salikin, vice president, Store Development & Construction, PT Sari Coffee Indonesia – the licensee of the Starbucks brand in Indonesia. “It’s important for us to stay close to the community and to meet our customers’ evolving needs for convenience, connection and personalization. We have always been fondly known as the ‘third place’, the welcoming place between home and work connected through coffee, and we will continue to strive to make that happen.”
“Starbucks continues to innovate, offering many ways for customers to enjoy their coffee experience, including through the development of an increasingly diverse store concept, both in terms of location, model and design. Looking back, we first opened the concept of a drive-thru store in 2005, at Rest Area KM19 Toll Jakarta-Cikampek which is also a pioneer store in toll road, and until now, drive-thru stores have been present in 16 other cities throughout Indonesia,” he explained. “This achievement certainly doesn’t stop us from pursuing the mission and values that Starbucks continues to deliver – To inspire and nurture the human spirit— one person, one cup and one neighborhood at a time,” he added.
This is an important milestone for Starbucks in Indonesia in 2022, as the company celebrates its 20th anniversary in the country. Since the opening of the first store at Plaza Indonesia 20 years ago, as part of Starbucks global commitment to create positive impact in the communities it serves, Starbucks Indonesia actively participates in activities that uplift the community. The first Community Store in the Tanah Abang neighborhood of Jakarta opened in 2020 in support of creating educational opportunities for youth in Tanah Abang, followed by the additional Starbucks Creative Youth Entrepreneurship Program (SCYEP) in support of youth empowerment. More than 500,000 coffee seeds have been donated to coffee farmers through the Art in The Cup program in collaboration with the Farmers Support Center in Berastagi, North Sumatra. And in appreciation of frontline responders of the Covid-19 outbreak, over 50,000 cups of beverages have been donated to hospitals and vaccination centers.
