Reinhard went out of the library. He carries a bag full of books. Even, there’re books he put inside his bike basket. “Huft, it’s really heavy,” Reinhard complained. Then, Rika approached him and suggested, “Why don’t you use digital library?”

A digital library is a collection of digital objects. It includes text, visual material, audio material, and video material. The collections are stored in electronic media formats. It also contains the means for organizing, storing, and retrieving the files.

For comparison, a conventional library needs a physical room to store print, microform, or other object. We must go to certain location of the library, walk along the bookshelves to search for the books. If we need to read the books at home, we must physically take them.

By using digital library, we may have access to what we want and need to use. The access to information is as far as we have digital connection and not dependent on the patron being in specific location. So, digital library is ideal in support of students in distance learning education.

Digital library is available around the clock. We have access to information 24 hours a day and seven days a week. When we’re in vacation, but we’re in need to read a book, we don’t have to go back to school. We can read it in our computer.

Simple and easy, isn’t it?
