Tips to Use Treadmill Correctly

Little Meity was in a gym with Mom. Only a couple steps on the treadmill, she flew off the back. Yes, she’s hurt. Or, at least, she’s clumsy. On the other side, people saw her as a funny thing. Then, Meity stood up and spoke to the treadmill, “Now, it is time for total payback!”

Sure it’s not the proper way to use treadmill, Superkids. To avoid fall down, it is not necessary to take a revenge. The proper way is to master how to use treadmill correctly. We may ask the gym instructor about this. However, below are some basic skills we must have.

First, balance is important. Train ourself to walk on treadmill just regular walk. Then, footwork is important. Practice walking from heel to the balls of our feet as natural motion. Hip work plays a role as well. We need to have a rhythmic and natural motion to our hips as we move.

Second, control the treadmill. Take note of the control panel and pay attention to where the pause and the emergency stop buttons. Don’t start a treadmill while we’re still standing on the belt, or we’ll fall. So, stand on the side rails as we start the treadmill. Then, use one foot to get the rhythm and put both feet on the belt and start walking.

If we are new to using a treadmill, hold onto the handrails as we walk. Once we pick up the pace, it is easier and safer to let go of the handrails. Swing our arms as we would if we were walking on normal pavement. Then, increase speed in small increments. Remember, treadmills can go very fast. If we increase the speed in a sudden, the belt will move so quickly and knock us off of the machine – just like Meity.

Or, think about to walk or run outside.
