Kids Creative Weekend: Paper Craft – Origami Decoration
Anything related to creation is on the rise, Superkids. Among them is DIY or Do It Yourself movement. Therefore, our beloved website, Superkids Indonesia holds regular program called Kids Creative Weekend. The program takes Superkids with Superfamily to fill the weekend with creation.
Kids Creative Weekend is around the corner. This time is for Superkids and Superfamily in Bogor and around. It will be on 15 June, 2014. There will be a talkshow and of course paper craft competition, Superkids’ favorite. Cool!
What kind of paper craft is to be made? Here is paper game with multiple texture, pattern and color with the touch of origami to have dazzling decoration for your study table, Superkids.
What you need:
Photo frame
White sheet matching the frame size
Craft paper square size with pattern
Glue
How to make origami bird (see Superkids Indonesia video on youtube for detais):
Fold the paper with pattern into triangle, and fold again to a smaller triangle. Unfold it.
Fold again to have two diagonal squares and fold again to have square one. Unfold all. You will have horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines on the paper.
Bring all tips of the paper at the center.
Fold the closed end, take the lower paper up to the line, and fold each side inward. Pay attention to every tip of the fold, make sure you do it neatly. Do the same for the other side of the paper.
Fold both left and right side inward. Do the same for other side.
Turn the sheet around so the folded side is on the inside.
Now the paper will be divided into two. The bottom is the one joined together and the upper is divided into two. Fold the joint up and turn the paper.
The paper will make 4 pointing tips. Two bigger tips are the bird’s wings and the other two are the head and tail.
Pull gently to the lower side of the two wings, bend 2 other parts inward. For the tail, bend further inward, and for the head bend a little at the tip.
Origami Paper Craft Decoration
Open the back of the frame, take out the glass, slip a white sheet in for the cushion.
Put the bird origami on the white sheet in the frame. Place them so it will look like as they are migrating.
The size, the number of bird and the size of the frame will determine the look. The smaller the bird, the more they are and the bigger the frame is the more beautiful it makes. If the frame is big enough, you can put it on the wall. For starter, medium size bird will do.
