Is It Smartphone or Reed of Fantastic 4?

Cell phones have come a long way. First, they were giant metallic bricks with an antenna sticking out. Then, they’ve evolved into ultra-thin, touchscreen devices with a powerful computer crammed inside. Next, they’ll be bright and shiny objects that inseparable with human.

Yes, smart phones can be folded like a piece of plastic and be molded in any shape. They can be carried anywhere, anytime. The flexing cell phones might come in handy in common everyday circumstances. So, we can listen and skip through songs without having to take it out of our pocket. We can wear them like on our wrist with gloves.

So, if the phone rings, we can hold it to our ear and squeeze to answer. Or, we may twist forward to scroll through files. The more we twist, the faster we scroll. Go too far and we simply twist back slowly until the file or contact we want is highlighted. Then, bend to action, or open the item on the menu.

Many technology giants have launched the prototype of flexible smart phone. Samsung had shown off OLED screens which can be folded over. Nokia had unveiled a prototype of the bendable Nokia Kinetic. Philips’ Fluid has also been successful in making a phone that can be rolled and worn as a bracelet. These will light up us who have a hard time keeping our phones from getting accidently broken.

Technology makes almost everything possible. However, it takes time to think about other aspects. Such as, will the world accept the technology? Is it marketable? Well, when Reed Richards of Fantastic 4 who can stretch his body into incredible lengths and shapes has conquered the world by comic book to video games and movie, we may wait and see how flexible smart phone will rule the world.
