500 Trophies at 8 Years Old
Charlize Cahyadi has been collecting over 500 modeling trophies, photo contest, fashion design, piano, drawing and even cake decorating trophies. This friendly multitalented little girl welcomes Superkids Indonesia at her parents’ house in Dharmahusada Indah, Surabaya.
Charlize, who made you a model at first?
I don’t really remember about modeling. For catwalk model, my first paid job was for fashion made by LaSalle College’s students Surabaya in their graduation ceremony. It was in 2010. I was four years old.
Since when did you start collecting to have this much trophies?
Since i was three. I used to love photo contest. Now i prefer fashion show on the catwalk. The theme can be regular to specific like moslem outfit or kebaya. Our living room can’t take all the trophies, so we put some in a special room and the rest are upstairs.
Do you always win?
Most of the time. However, i did lose once a while. I’m cool with that. I never complaint to the committee or something. Maybe the jury have different taste. Well, i just take them. In fact i never fail to congratulate the winner.
Who was the first to saw your modeling talent?
My teacher. She recognized that i must be confident to step up on the stage, not holding back. So mom signed me up to a modeling school. I got info about events there and join them. It feels good to have much experience in competitions.
What does it take to be a model, Carlize? Pretty? Rich?
Care for cleanliness. Skin and hair must be kept clean, no funny odor. It takes confident on stage, fresh and not fussy, no shy. However each model has their own style. So we can’t just take after someone else’s.
What’s your strong point for the designers?
They say it’s my expression. They say that i am natural. I laugh real laugh and showing genuine cheerful.
So, what does it feel like to walk the catwalk in front of people?
Proud. Happy. Not to mention if I get the standing ovation from the audience.
Any bad experience on the catwalk?
Hahaha, as matter of fact.. there was. I dropped my purse. But kept calm, no nervous there. I resumed walking, turn around to pick it up. People taught it was part of the show.
Any tips to always be confident?
Just have fun, no need to shy. If people think that you are crazy for smiling or laughing all by yourself, don’t mind them. Just say, it’s funny, not crazy.
Are you afraid of overweight?
Can’t get fatty too…hahaha. It’s in my gene, from dad. No food restraint for me, just always stay healthy. Can’t hit the stage if you are sick, right?
And how do you spend the money and prize from the show?
I save it, so one day i can take my child fly to Paris!
