Elle Fanning, The Sleeping Beauty
Do you know Maleficent, Superkids? The name maybe less familiar in our ears, isn’t it? But try asking, “Who is Aurora, the Sleeping Beauty?” surely everybody knows the answer. She is the princess who is cursed by an evil witch into an eternal sleep on her 16th birthday, and can only be dispelled if kissed by her true love.
Yes, Aurora is one of the Disney princesses. She may just be your favorite princess, Superkids. While the witch name is Maleficent. Now, in Maleficent, Disney is trying to tell the story of Sleeping Beauty from the Maleficent the witch’s perception.
In that movie, Maleficent is starred by a big name of Hollywood, Angelina Jolie. While the sleeping beauty is played by a young, 16 years old actrees Elle Fanning.
Elle Fanning is younger sister of actress Dakota Fanning. Elle has been in movie industry since three years old, but always as her sister’s substitute. Take for example the famous movie I am Sam, while Dakota Fanning plays as Lucy with Sean Penn in that movie. Elle plays as little Lucy. This is Elle’s first movie.
Now, Elle is already as beauty as Dakota. They are both have blond hair. In fact Elle is now taller than Dakota, 172 cm. In fact, and this one can be her proud, Elle has got herself an equal important role in movie, in Maleficent.
People often ask to Elle, how is it feel to play with a superstar such as Angelina Jolie? “I’ve never met Angelina Jolie and was very nervous when we first met. But that moment, Angelina (people use to call her Angie on stage, but I can’t so I still call her Angelina) hugs and shakes me and says, “We’ll have so much fun working together,” Elle recalled.
Much like any other girl, playing as one of Disney’s princess is a dream come true. Especially for Elle, Aurora has always been her favorite. Robert Stromberg, the director of Maleficent admits that he first saw Elle from “Super 8” and decided that she is the perfect person for Aurora. “She has the innocent and pure look. Not only that, what I see on Elle is her shinning face, it’s like the life and spirit burst out. That’s exactly what we want,” Said Stromberg.
On the other side, Elle claims to feel look like Aurora. “Princess Aurora is a cheerful girl who always smiles, just like I do. I also like to smile and laugh every time. She also has long blond hair and likes to wear pink. And I love pink. The thing is, in fairy tales, Aurora is too kind and soft. In Maleficent, Aurora appears to be stronger and bold. And I think that’s cool!” said Elle.
So how about Elle’s school? Elle has just enrolled to a public school since 2007, after always homeschooling before. “When I’m not on stage, I am shooting, there is a teacher on stage. And I still have to do all the assignment, exam and homework just like all my friends do, “Elle explains.
