Their suits maybe the next ones for Suri Cruise and other Hollywood’s little celebrities.
Being a model is more than just pose, face, figures and how to walk. It’s also about having the characters. Just like Aimee and Melia Putri Henrietta Augustin, the twins that become models for favorite brands Zara Kids and Gucci Kids. Superkids Indonesia met the girls with their mom Marietta M Merry Augustin, exclusively in Surabaya.

Are you two really twins?
What’s with that?
You are both pretty but looking different..
We’re not identical, you know.
Which one is Aimee and which one is Melia?
That’s Aimee. Skinny, curly and doesn’t like food (Melia points Aimee). That’s Melia, fat and talk all the time! (Aimee pointing back at Melia)
Hush. Since when do you like people take photos of yours?
Since one years old. Mom said we are good at camera, natural, photogenic, pose up even without direction.
Do you often take photo contest?
We do, but not very often. We don’t join every contest. Recently mom only signs us up to big events, national level or representing school.
Why?
Mom said to keep our natural childhood looks, not like adult, moms.
What do you mean by looking like moms?
Well.. the way we walk, expression, make up.
Do you take school model too?
Yes. At first because we win photo contest. It was from Pison Art N Fashion Foundation. The prize was to learn there (course class scholarship).
And you also join a model agency?
Yes, at One Models. The thing is, Pison doesn’t provide agency for models, only designer.
What’s the story that you two become models for a Spanish brand, Zara?
We coincidently met with this guy from Zara when wandering around mall in Jakarta. We talked and offered to be the models.
Wow. And you just say yes?
No, we took time to think. The offer was in April 2014, we said yes in August 2014. And in December 2014, before Christmas, we were invited to Singapore for a three days photo shoot.
For how many suits?
Six. One full day for two sets only.
Sounds heavy..
Hehehe. The photographer said, when we were cranky, bad mood or tired, the photos came out good. Somehow…
What’s the key to not getting cranky during long photo shoots?
Bring gadget, play video games.
So, being the commercial star for Gucci Kids, did you get that by agency?
No. That’s mommy doing. She sent an e-mail to Gucci two years ago, just for fun. She sent our pics too, who know Gucci’s people might like it. Well, we already forgot the email because it was quite a while when Gucci replied.
What did they say?
Asking questions. They thought we were from Italy, it’s where Gucci is from, because Aimee looked Italian. They were surprised that we were from Surabaya, Indonesia.
Did you sign a contract?
When we went to Singapore, photo shooting for Zara, we met representative from Gucci. They explained the content of the contract and asked us to learn it. But the contract will be valid per May 2015.
What’s the contract saying?
It’s an exclusive contract. So as long as we are still bound by Gucci’s, we can’t take photo with other brand. We get penalty if caught.
How do you spend the salary as model?
Eeh, we didn’t spend it. We save it. We don’t use any of that money. For toys, meals or having fun, well, we ask for mom’s or dad’s. Hehehe.
Any other activities aside from school and models?
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday we take extra class. Tuesday and Thursday, English course. Wednesday, dance and balet. Friday, piano lesson.
Any plan to play in a movie or sinetron (soap opera)?
Aimee had played in a sinetron of MD Entertainment. She was offered by an MD guy, Mas Imam. We met In Jakarta. Can’t remember the title though. Aimee played Shireen Sungkar’s child.
