SDK Tirtamarta BPK Penabur Cinere: Concerns with Independency
Do you wash your own dishes, Superkids? To stand alone is among things they taught in SDK Tirtamarta BPK Penabur Cinere.
The school in Cinere, Depok is very convenient for the teaching-learning environment process. With shady surrounding and autonomous learning pattern, the elementary becomes a perfect choice for Superkids.

Beside, the school has installing their students how to be more aware with the environment by having various environmental friendly activities. Among the activities are establishing green chemist, green store, waste processor by separating garbage that can be recycled into things with values such as mask and bracelet out of used bottles. Those items will worth something to students who take advantage from it.
“Everything our students make is to be put on display at Art Appreciation that is held on the report book day. All items are for sale and the result goes to the kids,” said Harminto, the principal of SDK Tirtamarta BPK Penabur Cinere.
According to Harminto, every month students have some social activity in around school neighborhood and Friday morning exercise. Not only that, not very long ago they had a Go Green activity, that is planting limo orange trees. Each students planted one tree.
“We do many activities to reflect the character of caring for our environment, and it’s a good thing that students and parents alike support these activities. We also encourage students autonomy with independency program,” Harminto added on.
The friendly principal claimed to have implementing the environmental culture school to his school. It’s only normal that SDK Tirtamarta BPK Penabur Cinere was awarded the 2014 Raksa Prasada Award, for West Java Province, for category of School with Enviromental Culture.
“My kid goes to school here, from playgroup to elementary school. There are many good things to gain. Various program they teach during and out , of school hours (extra). With the autonomous program, students can learn to take care of their own in daily life. It goes from simple things like making the bed, wash the toilet and put the dishes to wash. They are simple yet very helpful,” one of the parents, claimed.
Students also admit that the autonomy taught at school allows them to wash their own dishes and make their wardrobe. “I have been here since playgroup to grade 6. It’s so much fun here. We have leadership program in grade 5 and retreat in grade 6. There are many extracurricular too. I used to join the ansamble music. We performed a lot. We have little docter and regular doctor,” Abigail a six grader, tells.
Characters are shaped since early. There may not much to see today, but someday Superkids will thank the teachers who teach them independency. That’s right!
