Let’s Go Around the World in Surabaya

Right off the bat, the entrance of Let’s Go Around the World has attracted the kids. The door was designed like an airplane door and everyone on board must go through a passport and ticket checking procedure. Inside, dozens of fun games awaited.

Every kid got their passport with the ticket. They had to show the passport when dropped by in any country for a stamp and souvenir of small flag or a sticker. Well, not all countries were available in this event, only Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, China, Singapore, Dutch, German, UK, Australia and USA. The booths were divided into six continent zone, Europe, Africa, Asia, America, Australia and Antarctica.

Each booth provided information about the country, from the population, the capital, art and culture up to local tourism. One of the favorite booths was Dutch. In this booth, Superkids got to wear Dutch’s traditional outfit known as klederdracht, completed with the klomp or klompen. “We have prepared five outfits for girls and five for boys. All came directly from the Netherland,” said Fitri Maulana from Caraka Mulia, Indonesia-Dutch Language and Art Center.

The little twin Aimee Augustin and Melia Augustin were among the most excited ones with the chance of making photograph in noni Dutch style. Accompanied with their mom Merry Augustin, these twin students of St Clara Surabaya Play Group, made cute pictures with the klederdracht and it’s klomp.

On for five days November 1-5, 2013 in JX International Surabaya, Let’s Go Around the World was crowded by thousands of visitors every day. It’s the first time the event visited Surabaya after hitting Jogjakarta not long ago. The exploding visitors was due to not only the variety of games and entertainment provided in the arena, but also because of the affordable ticket, Rp 15.000 each.

The ticket was a sealed plastic bracelet, can be used to get in and out for five days of the festival for free. “The anticipation of visitors was equal with Jogjakarta, we also had this for five days and the same theme there. Let’s Go Around the World,” Albert Noviano, from the committee of www.kidscastle.co.id explained.
