Eat a Rainbow

We need vegetables and fruit on daily basis. The thing is if we just accept one kind of fruit or veggie. Erm… it’s actually our lose, because colorful fruit and veggie helps us grow health and strong. Did you know that each color has different nutrient? It means, every color brings different good for our body.

  • Red keeps heart strong.
  • Orange prevents our eyes healthy.
  • Yellow protect us from getting sick.
  • Green supports bones and teeth strong.
  • Blue and purple sharpen memories.

So how to get us use to eat multicolor fruits? Quoted from a health kid site, Fit.Webmd, there’s a fun game to help us out, eating fruits and vegetables with fun! They call it Food Rainbow Game.

First, draw a rainbow. You know how beautiful a rainbow is. It’s got almost every color. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. Get the rainbow drawing over to the dining table.

Step two, before you take the first spoon, check out your plate. What vegetables have you got there? Let’s say you have broccoli, then mark the green on your rainbow. If you have tomato, mark the red one.

Third, check out your table. What is the fruit in your menu today? If it’s banana, mark the yellow, for the plum, mark the purple.

Simple, isn’t it? Keep the drawing somewhere clean and safe. Bring it to the table each time you have meal. Check the result every weekend. Do you have many marks on the rainbow? Great! That means that you eat enough fruit vegetables.  If not, the rainbow will speak for itself, what kind of fruit and vegetable you don’t want to eat.

So ask Mommy to serve them for breakfast or lunch. It’s guaranteed that no Mommy will ever say no when kids want vegetables!
