Bittersweet Chocolate Mousse

This is a famous dessert everybody likes because of the soft texture and not too sweet taste. Better yet, serve it in serving glasses. It’s an easy meal to make and doesn’t take much time. Let’s try this weekend, ask mom to help, shall we?

Ingredients:

300g best quality dark chocolate, roughly chopped

3 eggs

1/4 cup (55g) granulated sugar

1 tablespoon best quality cocoa powder, sifted

300ml thickened cream, and whipped cream extra for serving

Grated chocolate, for serving

How to make:

1. Put the chocolate into a heatproof bowl, put the bowl atop of a pan with boiling water, use small heat.  Careful not to let the water get into the bowl. Stir the chocolate to melt. Remove the bowl, set aside and let the chocolate to cool.

2. Put in eggs and sugar into a large bowl. Shake with electric mixer for 5 minutes, or until the dough looks pale, thickening and doubled from before. Stir gently with the chocolate earlier, add some chocolate powder, stir well.

3. In separate bowl, stir the cream to thickening. Use a big metal spoon and gently mix the cream into the chocolate dough. Keep the dough soft. Arrange it into 6 serving glasses and leave to cool in the fridge for at least one hour. Take out from the fridge 15 minutes before serving, add whipped cream and extra grated chocolate for serving.

Tips:

  1. Chocolate mousse is a rather tricky snack to make. To avoid the fishy smell, make sure you mix the egg when the chocolate is cooling, but not too cold.
  2. When mixing the cream, do it by flipping the dough, do not stir to avoid the mousse thickening.
