Happy to Enjoy Over 50 Games at Suroboyo Carnival
This is a new hang out site for Superkids in Surabaya and the vicinity. Suroboyo Carnival Night Market or SCNM for short. It just opens July 2014 but already become an iconic amusement center for kids in Surabaya we must visit. Wow, what do they have there?
With modern night market concept, SCNM appears in supercompleted amusement park. Talking about the rides, it has over 50 of it. The entrance ticket is Rp 25.000, pass ticket Rp 120.000. What makes this place different than any other playground in the world is, we can see many Javanese words written all over without translation here. So new comers will automatically learn Javanese. For example, they don’t put ‘Exit’ at the exit gate, it’s ‘Metu’. The entrance is not marked by ‘Entrance’, instead ‘Mlebu’. At every ticket selling we see running text saying Regane Tiket. In fact some of the rides’ names are mixing with Suroboyan style Javanese. Take for example Bledek Coaster, Omah Mumet, Gondal Gandul, Montor Edan, Munyer Serr and Beskop 360.
Of that many rides, what is the must not skipped ones? Number one is Keliling Angkasa (Around the Space). If you happen to purchase only entrance ticket (not the pass ticket), this ride costs additional Rp 10.000. We get to go round SCNM arena on a small two passenger cart. The railway is built on a specific lane about 50 meters in altitude. So we get to enjoy SNCM from above. Or, why not trying Ferrish Wheel? But Ferrish Wheel doesn’t go around the area, it spins like a wheel.
Number two on the list is Kids Kingdom. The ticket is Rp 50.000 at 16.00-19.00 and risen to Rp 75.000 at 19.00-24.00. We are free to try any games available there (they have 44). Kids Kingdom is in the open space and fills with many things. From Science Lab (where we meet with every scientific stuffs), to Clinic that is designed like doctors’ working place (with examination desk, patient dolls, toy stethoscope, measure and other medical equipment). We are bound to enjoy the Messy Room, Police Station, Detective, Happy Farm, Clay House, Face Painting, Nails Studios, Puppet Show, Galaxy, Aerospace, Gymnastic and so many more.
Number three is Art and Wax House. The ticket is Rp 25.000 (free for pass ticket). Not only it has wax statues of world figures, but also unique and cute 3D paintings in gigantic size. Just be patient if you want to take pictures here. It seems everyone doesn’t just pass through, they share the same idea to take pictures with supercreative paintings as the background. Yet there’s still something amiss before you try the most dare challenging ride in the amusement park. SNCM has Bledek Coaster. The cart goes very fast with twisting lane. Just say your prayer before step on, Superkids.
Now, if you want to play as much as you like, you should be on site by SNCM opening hour of 16.00. There should be less crowd at these hours, yet. Try some of the favorite ride like Bledek Coaster and Ferrish Wheel. After 18.00 there will be so many people in the very long line to play.
Even if it’s not downtown, SNCM is easy to spot. It’s across the City of Tomorrow shopping center or east to the south gate of Surabaya. It’s just on the border line between Surabaya and Sidoarjo. Only 20 minutes if you come from Juanda freeway. If you don’t want to get worn out going around the vast SNCM area, try E-Bike for rent, Rp 10.000 per three hours. And you don’t have to worry about food, there are tons of food curt selling Indonesian, Chinese and western food there.
