Dare to Speak English
Those students came to join the Erlangga English Speech Contest 2012 with theme Dare to Speak. The participants came from all over Indonesia and the yesterday’s performance was the best 31 out of 12 big cities, Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Jogjakarta, Surabaya, Medan, Pekanbaru, Palembang, Makassar, Samarinda, Banjarmasin and Lampung.
The pre eliminary stage was held last October with hundreds of participants in each city. Each performer was given 5 minutes to make an English speech without text. “Dare means to have a gut, which is bold enough to face the risk and take on the challenge. While Speak means to orally show what is our head,” said Chief Editor Penerbit Erlangga, Raymod Sitompul.
Kezia Yemima from SMAK Penabur 2 Bandung came out the number one for the SMA category with her speech about The Importance of Mastering English. Meanwhile Dessy from SMK Kartini Batam was awarded the first place for her fluently in speech about Developing Indonesian Culture and Tourism. The SMP Category went to Yovinca Yusmika from SMPK IPEKA Tomang Jakarta.
