Race for a Chance to Be a Commercial Star
Take Thoriq Rachman Zaki (10) for example. This kid came all the way from Mojokerto to show his skills in taekwondo. This 5th grade student of SDIT Permata Mojokerto was one of the finalists of Jagoan Clevo Indonesia 2014 for Eastern Java region. He along with 39 other kids were selected through layered audition last 2013 end.
“I like taekwondo because it mainly uses leg, I don’t like to fight anyway,” Thoriq laid out his reason to learn taekwondo since he was in the kinder garden. He already had black belt and gained 2 bronzes and one silver from his earlier tournaments.
Another contestant Vinsyah Noval Qitan showed her ability to sing. Unlike most young singer who often perform with cheerful choreography, this 11 years old girl perform in cool style with less act on the stage. He claimed to learned how to sing by herself and have never joined any vocal school. Even so, he already won a cross country singing competition.
In addition to Thoriq’s martial art and Noval sings, other talents were also on display by the finalists, both modern and traditional dance, fashion show, drum, act, puppeteer, ballet, story telling, poem reading and even percussion music. However they didn’t overwhelm the jury to decide the champion. “We have a general scoring system for every finalist, regardless of what they got,” said one of the jury Philipus Nugroho W, Senior Brand Manager Garuda Food, along with physiologist Vicky Diah and the talent seeker Paul Pieter.
The scoring criteria covered the self confident, talent mastery, distinctive and creativity in putting the talents together. “One kid may have more than one talent. We are looking at how the kid combine those two and three talents in one show. For example, fashion show and acting,” Nugroho explained.
The open stage audition was swarmed by hundreds of Cito visitors. They managed to chose the top six and with cash award. However out of this six, only three will be sent to represent East Java in the next stage in Jakarta. They will face other finalists from Palembang, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Bandung and Jakarta. They were Nanda Aisya, Adiba Cahya Khusna Mustika Karyanto and Fairuz Akhmad. The other three were M Nudzulul P, Shafilano Keyza and Felicia Tasya. “The winner in Jakarta will be given prize of a trip to Singapore and a chance to perform in Clevo commercial,” Hani Wijaya, Senior Brand Executive Clevo, added on.
