Advice from The “Piano Guru”

Superkids, professional pianist is a great career, you know. You could travel all around the world playing piano in various art performances. You could be famous musicians, respected artists, the ones with a special skill.

So, want to be a pianist? Well, there is some advice from Daniel Herscovitch. He is a professor of music at the University of Sydney’s Conservatorium of Music, Australia. As a pianist, he performed in various places in Europe, America, Australia, and in Jakarta.

On July 24, 2013, he played Schubert, Chopin, Haydin, Ananda Sukarlan, and Trisuji Kamal in The Piano Institute in Surabaya. His performed to enliven the first anniversary of The Piano Institute which run by one of his students; Catherine Tanujaya.

What is his advice? First, Herscovitch said, be encouraged. If you really want to be a pianist, do not hesitate to be. Start learning as soon as possible. Apply all of your music teacher instructions, practice as often as possible, to make playing piano as your habit.

“Frequently attend music concerts. Not just piano concert, but any music. It is to enrich the your knowledge and your sensibility about music,” said Herscovitch. “Then, try playing duets. Playing solo piano could be boring. In order not to get bored, play with others. You may play with fellow pianist, or play with other instrument players.”

So, practice diligently. Who know someday you could be a successor to Ananda Sukarlan, Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, Johannes Brahms, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Claude Debussy, Ferruccio Busoni, Duke Ellington, Ray Charles, Jerry Lee Lewis, or Billy Joel.

Cool, isn’t it?
