Coaching Clinic with Veteran NBA Stars
It was a hot training session at Senayan Trade Centre (STC) basketball court, Tuesday (26/6) morning. Jason Williams, Vin Baker, Ricky Pierce dan Duane Causwell played tag team in training about 50 basketball players from several clubs in Jakarta. Along with them Lucius Alles the legendary coach, didn’t want to fall behind to contribute. Even Charles Smith, Executive Director of NBRPA (National Basketball Retired Players Association) that organize NBA ex players, was also presence.
Dozens of stundents attended to their lecture without blinking. Started at 09.00, they learned and practiced for four hours of how to performe superstars moves. The lecture included all moves there is, shooting, low pass, positioning and how to perform dribble. “This kids have talents, they just need to work on the techniques,” said 64 years old Lucius. “They seem to enjoy this exercise,” he added on.
Lucius’s assesment hit the target. A female basket ball player from 116 Ragunan High, Shinta Setia claimed that she enjoyed the exercise. “I like the way they teach. They correct us right away when we make wrong moves,” says Shinta.
Jason cs are members of USA Pro Ball Alumni. They came to answer the invitation of PT DBL Indonesia to attend Flexi National Basketball League (NBL) Indonesia All-Star 2012 feat USA Pro Ball Alumni. They were scheduled to visit Bandung and Surabaya to face two NBl All-Star after Jakarta. Bandung match is on Wednesday (27/6) at C-Tra Arena. And for Surabaya, they will be on court on Sabtu (30/6) at DBL Arena.
Director of PT DBL Indonesia Azrul Ananda was confident that it will be a spectacular matches. He also had some surprises set for basket fans in both Bandung and Surabaya. “These will be entertaining matches for sure. The NBL players deserve this after the longest season in Indonesian basketball history,” said Azrul. “Let the players take out all their emotion, tears and drama in NBL. The events of Bandung and Surabaya are all about fun.”
