Brrr… Snow in Surabaya!
Christmas and snow always go together. But snow can only be enjoyed by those living in sub tropic regions. In order to present snowy atmosphere like in Europe and Northern America, Grand City Mall, Surabaya built a snow playground for young visitors. The “Holiday Wonderland: Snow Play N’ Fun“ is truly dedicated to bring the winter European backyard, covered with snow in for December.
In here, kids are free to play in the snow with the available equipments, such as plastic shovel, spoon, dipper, bucket, toy cars and mini sand cart. Of course for their own safety and convenient, every session of the game is limited for 30 minutes top. Players are required socks, gloves and plastic boots. It’s better to have a thick jacket and hat or scraft. Special for boots, Grand City Mall provides some for players to use.
Archelin Artamevia, a fifth grade student of Kristen Petra 7 Elementary School Kalianyar, Surabaya, is among the eager child who couldn’t wait to enter the snowy area, Sunday afternoon December 15th, 2013. She claimed to have played snow, when Grand City Mall built the same arena a couple of years back. Still, it doesn’t reduce the curiosity to play again this year. “I’m going to play with snowman and have a snow ball war,” she said to herself when lining up at the entrance.
“Holiday Wonderland: Snow Play N’ Fun” is available for quite some duration this year, from December 10th, 2013 until February 2014. It opens 16 sessions every day. The first session is 10.15 AM to10.45 AM, and the last session is at 21.30 PM to 22.00 PM. The ticket for one session can be purchased for IDR 60.000 at the information center, five meters from the snow playground.
“It’s not just snow is hard to find in two seasoned countries like Indonesia, it’s next to impossible. With “Holiday Wonderland: Snow Play N’ Fun”, our kids have a chance to enjoy the sensation of playing in the snow,” said Aurelia Dewi Yana, Marketing Communication Senior Manager Grand City Mall. She also advised Superparents to have an extra clothes and cajuput oil to use after the kids playing.
