EduFair of Hang Tuah Foundation
Approaching the 29th Hang Tuah Foundation anniversary at the incoming January 14th, the chain of events is started to enliven the occasion. Among them, the most outstanding one to the community is the EduFair of Hang Tuah Foundation.
These two days event involved all the educational units under the Hang Tuah Foundation, from kindergarten up to the high school level. “There were 32 schools from and around Surabaya and Sidoarjo. 14 kindergartens, 9 elementary schools, 4 junior high schools and 5 high schools in total,” Ariani TY, the Head Master of Hang Tuah 9, Candi, Sidoarjo, laid out the detail as the coordinator of this event.
The EduFair was officially opened by the Vice Chief Petty Admiral of NAVY, TNI Hari Bowo SE MSc on Friday, December 6th 2013. All headmasters and teachers were attending the opening ceremony. Also on sight at the site was Head of Advisor of Hang Tuah Foundation Penny Iriana Marsetio, who was also wife of the Chief of NAVY, TNI (KSAL) Admiral TNI Dr Marsetio MM.
A traditional dance competition of Elementary School, Junior High and Senior High level was hold on the second day, Saturday, December 7th 2013. The representation of Hang Tuah XI Elementary School, Tebel, Sidoarjo perform dazzlingly with traditional dance of Aceh, Kipah Sikarang. Eight little dancers from grade three to five took seven minutes performing time on stage. “We practice hard for a full week for this event,” said Afrisia Syarah Devi, the dance instructor.
In other booths, 32 schools competed to show their best performance. Some of students’ art works were also on display. Take for example wall magazine with the theme My Earth My Place, made by students of grade four Elementary School XI. “Although the initial objective was not to attract the interest of freshmen to enroll, we were quite satisfied because we were able to introduce our school to the society,” Binti Fatimah SPd, a third grade teacher who also tended a booth, explained.
