KidsFfest 2013: Celebrating Childhood

Superkids, if you like to watch movies or if you just want to learn about the lives of other kids from other countries, you can invite your mom and dad to watch children movies from around the world that will be held for the KidsFfest 2013.

The fifth KidsFfest 2013 was cordially opened on April 17 in Gandaria City Piazza Area. The opening show was exciting and festive. The windy rain outside the place didn’t stop each and every participant, committees and the Sanggar Roda Superkids from carrying out the event successfully. We all had fun in the show, together with the beautiful MC Melissa Karim.

KidsFfest is an annual show held by the Kalyana Shira Foundation, with a vision of showing high quality films for kids aged 6-15 years. The festival lasted from April 17 to April 21 2013 in Gandaria City Piazza Area (Open Air), Blitz Pacific Place, and Gandaria XXI. Aside film screening, KidsFfest is also known for its Short Film Competition program, with all competing films being directed by young talents aged 12-15 years.

The fifth annual KidsFfest is themed “Celebration”, which marks their fifth birthday. And because of this, all films shown are for free! Other countries like Italy, Norway, Netherlands, Finland, Sweden, Germany, Brazil, Poland, Austria, Switzerland, Japan, Denmark, Malaysia, India, and of course Indonesia didn’t forget to show off their best children movies.

One of the three opening films in the festival is titled “Goodbye, My School”. The film, created by Ucu Agustin, tells the story of Lintang, whose hobby is to play drum. Having very limited eyesight, he goes to special school. But, his independence causes her to leave school and her beloved friends. The second film, “Grady the Healer”, is created by Ray Nayoan. It focuses on Grady, who has a special ability to heal people. The last film is Chairu Nisa’s “Chocolate Comedy”, which narrates the life of a girl, Fatih. She dreams of becoming a stand-up comedian and performs with her unique joke about chocolates.

In the opening show, Nia Dinata advises the Superkids to always be creative and keep on making imaginative works. “This show is intended to inspire kids to use more of their imagination, and give them the right references about the movies they should watch,” Nia said, looking dazzling in her white laces gown during the show.
