Indonesian Idol Junior Comes to MNCTV

Are you somewhere between 3-13 years old? Can you sing? Be in the spot light? You might be just the one Daniel Mananta and Titi Dj are desperately looking for, Superkids. Fremantle Media in collaboration with MNCTV sets out the jury for Junior Idol to Surabaya, Medan and Jakarta in a mission to hunt the best little singer who’s got what it takes to be Indonesian new idol.

“It’s a challenge for us to find these little talents that are scattered all over the world. The event opens opportunity for kids of becoming stars,“ said the Executive Producer of MNCTV Marah Bangun in Grand Darmo Hotel Surabaya, on Tuesday August 12th 2014, during the opening of the first Big Audition.

For Marah, the name Indonesian Idol itself already speaks for the quality of the singers. The jury will stretch out their effort to find the little singer with top quality voice. That’s why there’s no limit to how many contestant to be participate in the judging stage in Jakarta. “We don’t put a limiting number of how many singers the jury finds to send to Jakarta for the next, more competitive stage,” Maartvi Jati P, the Producer of MNCTV adds on.

The audition for Indonesian Idol Junior is divided into two steps, Small Audition and Big Audition. Last July 2014, Small Audition was thrown ahead in Makassar (July 5th), Yogyakarta (July 13th), Ambon (July 13th), Bandung (July 19th) and Banjarmasin (July 50th). Mean while, the Big Audition will take place in only three major cities, Surabaya (Balai Kartika, August 13-14th ,2014), Medan (MICC, August 19-20th 2014) and Jakarta (Tennis Indoor, August 30th-31st 2014).

Maartvi ensures that Indonesian Idol Junior is packed in kid-friendly version. During the process of determining contestant, there will be no such horrific, mental crushing word like ‘elimination’. Jury will use more encouraging words selectively. They are strongly advised to be gentle with mental of the young contestants.

During the quarantine in Jakarta, contestants are not allowed to miss school lesson. “Education remains number one. We provide homeschooling program for them during the quarantine. Despite the absence from parents, the house will be a home for contestants. We even provide doctor and psychologist to be there all the way,” Maartvi went on.

Despite the image that MNCTV was identical with dangdut, Maartvi ensures that Indonesian Idol Junior will stick with the original taste, free from any diversion. The team will be briefed all out to meet the same standard in this case. Regarding the songs, since the target is kids, the team will be very selective to determine the appropriate ones.

“Songs that were sung by adult singers are not always about romantic love. Those with universal theme, the burning spirit and such are still acceptable. And that’s it. We don’t put little adult on stage (kids who sing adult songs) in this event,“ Production Manager Fremantle, Victor Ariesza, confirms.
