The Merry of Christmas with Samoyed Dog

White thick fur, curved back tail and friendly smiling face. Samoyed is indeed different from other dogs. These guys are very friendly, even dependable for child care business.

On December 19th, 2014, PG Kindergarten and Marry Queen Prime School Surabaya were visited by Indonesian Samoyed Club (KSI). Led by KSI Secretary Josephone Marsa Sulaeman (Fifie), the club brought along some samoyeds and a man in Santa’s suit before the students. The objective was of course to spread the joy of Christmas and introducing samoyed to Superkids while they’re at it.

“Samoyed is a dog that doesn’t bite, so you don’t need to be afraid around them. They are also very clever and easy to communicate. For example, watching over little children. They understand the order and will never leave the child under their custody,” Fifie explained to students.

Samoyed is one of 14 purest breed in the world. They are originated from Russia and Siberia. In the cold regions of Siberia, they were used to herd polar deer, pulling sleigh and watch over children. In Indonesia, samoyed is getting popular as more people have them. “Perhaps it’s because they are easy to take care of. The dog eats regular dog meal. They don’t object to our home meal as long as not chicken or pork meat or bones. They prefer beef of goat,” said Fifie. Since they are accustomed to cold areas, samoyed is more comfortable to sleep in a room with air conditioner. To keep them clean, samoyed only need once in a month bath.

In addition to meet the friendly dog, there were various gifts from Santa for the students. They also took turn to take photos on Santa’s lap or hugging samoyed.
