Launching Manka “The Happy Little Girl” At Popcon Asia

The annual Popular Culture Festival, Popcon Asia had been thrown last week, (19-21 September) at SMESCO Exhibition Hall, South Jakarta. This year was the third and it brought up people from creative industries from both local and international of any field. Games, animation, movies, toys, illustration and even comic. There were about 116
exhibitor took part in it.

 

We collaborate with participants from 10 foreign nations, US, Australia, Dutch, Malaysia, Philippine, Hong Kong, Korea, France, Thailand and Singapore,” said Grace Kusnadi, Event Director Popcon Asia 2014.

 

Normally, people who come to this festival are pop culture fans, aged from 15-35 years old, but this time there are a lot of Superkids show up. On the last day (21/9), there was a launching if Manka “The Happy Little Girl”, who attracted audience.

 

The character was dwelling under Pionicon, Indonesian first management agency of fictional character. The creators of Manka character were Timothy Istianto and Viona Paramita.

 

According to Timothy the creator, Manka was inspired from a water melon. “Indonesia’s climate in general is hot throughout the year, and Manka is quite popular because the fresh and sweet taste and attractive color. Inspired by water melon, Manka was designed to bring up joy in every condition,” Timothy revealed to Superkids Indonesia.

 

It’s expected that fans can adopt the character of Manka that always rejoice every aspect in life, never give in and always take the positive side of every experience. Creator saw that regardless of the age, every woman has a “happy little girl” in her.

 

In the future, Manka will be developed via merchandise and social media, either facebook, twitter and instagram, so that fans can enjoy its content for free and join Manka’s activities at @littlemanka.
