Kids with Special Requirement Exhibition

 

Kids with special requirements also pose special talents. Painting, photography, sewing, knitting. Anything you can do, so can they, Superkids. Dozens of their artwork are proudly presented in Mal Taman Anggrek, Jakarta for two days, May 25-May 26. You could find photos, paintings, bags, even fabric made wall decoration there. Surely this speaks of their volume. This event, with the theme What Will I Be?, was presented by Allied Educators with Hope Worldwide Indonesia, Kuningan Family and Community Center and Shining Stars Academy.

Among the contestants was Muhammad Lukman Ibrahim Salim, a first year student of Inklusi Tetum Bunaya Elementary School, Jagakarsa, Jakarta. This proud son of Achmad Junus Salim and Elvina Saad throw in his masterpiece, the one that beautifully displayed squares and deflected light of red blended with yellow. The same picture once won a photography contest for children’ as you know. “The jury were professional photographers who didn’t have a clue that Lukman is an ABK (anak berkebutuhan khusus or kids with special requirements),” said Elvina.

Preceeding the fair, were a musical concert performance, a movie and a robot assissted painting on a long fabric for canvas. All were special for children with autis, down syndrome, disleksika, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and the like. Their coordinated mass painting on a fabric was in fruition. It gave them an award of Museum Record Indonesia (Muri).
