Radar Sidoarjo Moves to Sidoarjo

After four years stationed in Surabaya, Radar Sidorajo newspaper was officially open an office in Sidoarjo. Thousands of people of the Shrimp City took part in the launch, Sunday morning, November 24th 2013.

The launch was packed purposively in the form of healthy morning walk with people. Started and finished in Sidoarjo square, the route was designed to pass by the Radar Sidoarjo office at 3C Delta Wijaya Shophouse, Raya Jenggolo Street. Among the participants were big names of locals blended with the rest of people. Take the Head of District Saiful Ilah, Head of Local Police Resort AKBP Marjuki, 0816 District Military Commander Letkol (Arh) Bambang Utomo, Local Secretary (Sekda) Vino Rudy Muntiawan, and Local General Construction Head Service Bina Marga Sigit Setyawan.

Passing by the Radar Sidoarjo office, Abah Ipul -Saiful Ilah friendly nickname- couldn’t resist to just get by. He immediately agreed when Leak Kustiya, the Director of Radar Surabaya, invited him to drop by. Abah Ipul didn’t go alone, he took his group along to survey the condition of the somewhat prepared building. “Comfy isn’t it, suits for news reporting,” Abah Ipul commented when they reach the news room on the second floor.

Radar Sidoarjo was the second branch of Radar Surabaya, a subsidiary of Jawa Pos. Before this, Radar Surabaya opened the Radar Gresik in Gresik. “So we can say that Radar Sidoarjo is the grandchild of Jawa Pos,” Leak, who was also the editor-in-chief of Jawa Pos and director of PT Jawa Pos Koran, explained. “It’s time for people of Sidoarjo to have their own local media that will coexist and growth side by side with people of Sidoarjo,” Leak went on.

Abah Ipul and the forpimda (local leader forum) were no stranger to Radar Sidoarjo. They have visited it in some previous occasion when the office was still attached to Radar Surabaya in Graha Pena, Surabaya. He expressed admiration for the genuine effort of Radar Sidoarjo team to get close to the reader. It is improved by the fact there’s an increasing volume of two pages -it’s now four pages- specified to cover the event around Delta City.

“We believe only news that comes from professional hard working with journalist ethic that can be well accepted by the people of Sidoarjo,”  Sumarno, the Editor-in-Chief of Radar Sidoarjo confirmed.
