Barbie LIVE! Musical Tour in Surabaya
Look how high we can fly. We can see everything, from up here in the sky. We’ve got the perfect view. Together me and you. Look how high we can fly… Audiences in Barbie LIVE! at Grand City Convention Hall, Surabaya, joined in singing the song on Sunday, November 17th 2013. “Look How High We Can Fly” was a familiar song for Barbie’s fans as the soundtrack film of “Barbie the Princess and the Popstar”. So was it when Barbie, Ken, Teresa and friends sang “Be a Friend” from another Barbie movie, “Mariposa and the Fairy Princess”.
The Barbie’s musical drama Barbie LIVE! went on for two hours with 20 minutes break. Filled with three stories, the show performed 20 songs with Hollywood studio background (sure, the Barbie all pink style!). The story went with Barbie (played by Chelsea Rae Bernier) and her best friend Teresa (played by Kristina Miller) were shooting for their new movie. Suddenly Teresa had an emotional issue for her own ability. Her confidence to perform well dropped. Barbie then taught her how to be more confidence.
Filled with hit songs, dances and combination of intriguing story and eye catching attractive stage, Barbie LIVE! was swarmed with audience for two days show, November 16-17, 2013. On the first day, they performed three times on 11.00 AM, 02.45 PM and 06.45 PM. On the second day, they restrained with only two performances on 11.00 AM and 02.45 PM. This was their premiere in Indonesia. Before Surabaya, Barbie LIVE! team, consisted of 30 actresses, actors, dancers and Crew from US, has been to Thailand, Malaysia and other Asian countries. In Indonesia, they were schedule to be on stage in two cities, Surabaya and Jakarta.
“In Jakarta the show went on longer, four days from November 20-23, 2013 in The Kasablanka, Kasablanka City,” Krisna Andini from Sorak Gemilang Entertainment, the event organizer who tagged with EMS Entertainment and Dyandra Entertainment, explained. In Surabaya, ticket for the show were available in four classes; VVIP (Rp 775.000), VIP (Rp 575.000), Gold (Rp 375.000) and Silver (Rp 175.000). VVIP had a privilege of backstage tour about 15 minutes before the show. They could talk and taking pictures with real life Barbie and friends behind the stage.
So what was Bernier said about her playing as Barbie? “I’m a fan of Barbie. I can’t wait to perform and entertain Barbie’s fan in Surabaya and Jakarta,” she eagerly said, when asked during rehearsal with other crews, one day before the show.
