Being a Photographer and Illustrator is Cool
On the 2nd floor lobby of Lenmarc Mall Surabaya at July 6 2013, dozens of superkids were dancing together on the red carpet. Then, the sound of bells and whistles roared. On the stage, locomotives in red, green and yellow appeared beyond the veil. Who are they? Yes! They are, respectively, Wilson, Koko and Brewster. They’re trains of Chuggington station.
The superkids stopped dancing. They immediately took some pictures of the locomotive that used to be seen on television. Some kids took SLR camera and posed as journalists who looking for news. Some other use tablets and iPad. Even, some other took picture with smartphones. Everykid has a goal; to shoot the expression of the trains.
Some other superkids took the paper and stationery. They made illustrations on one or all of the trains on the stage. They made illustrations of smiling train, made color drawing, or just made a simple sketch.
The superkids were participants of Be Our Photographer and Be Our Illustrator contest held by SuperkidsIndonesia. Before making picture and illustration, they’re given a basic knowledge. For photography, they are trained by Mamuk Ismuntoro a photographer of Matanesia Academy. For illustration, they’re directed by comic artist Gino Kasmianto. This event was successfully supported by Radar Surabaya, Hard Rock FM Surabaya, Berita Jatim and Centroone.
And, Jason Surya Tamin was the winner of Be Our Photographer contest and David Faye Iyawan as the favorite. Meanwhile, Dewi Mandaring was chosen as the winner of Be Our Illustrator contest and Dina as the favorite one. “I was not expecting David would win. It’s amazing. He likes to take pictures with cell phone. It might be his picture so natural and then won the contest,” said Alfi, his mother.
Yeah, congratulations…..!
