Parenting Discuss in Makassar

If the kids are showing attitude of spoiled, selfish, isolated, rebellion, anxious and such, it may be the good time for Superparent to have some self assessment. Kids were not born as selfish or rebellion individuals. Their growth and development are very much affected by each and every reaction of the parents. How superparent treated them is proven to have a great deal of impact on their social, emotional, intellectual competencies. This is where effective pattern plays the part.

According to psychologist Dr Rose Mini MPsi (Bunda Romi), parenting pattern is parenting style applied to kids and it should be consistent at any given time. One of the most influencing factors is the parents’ childhood. Superparent who underwent some military style of parenting will tend to be hard on their kids. Social status, economic and culture also contribute in this. Another commonly seen factor is gender. Somehow, parents tend to treat their son and daughter differently.

“Boys are identical with blue, while girls do pink. Boys are not supposed to play housekeeping game and girls aren’t allowed near toy cars. The fact we see today is, many top chefs are guys and some famous drivers are girls,” Bunda Romi presented in the Morinaga Platinum seminar with the theme of  “Shaping the Kids’ Intelligence since Earlier” at Grand Clarion Hotel, Makassar, Sunday December 15th, 2013.

Parents who applied very loose control over the kids are in the Uninvolved parenting. The warm level with the kids tends to be low because they just allow the kids to do what they want. However, some parents are very close to their kids yet have no control at all. This Indulgent parenting style will lead the kid to develop bossy attitude, because parents always follow what they want. On the contrary, some parents applied a very tight set of rules, too much control and no emotional warmth with the kids. “It means that they choose the Authoritarian parenting. For them, A means A. Authoritative puts themselves in the balance between control and warmth emotionally. This way, kids will become comfortable,” Bunda Romi explained.

The seminar where Dr Ahmad Suryawan SpA(K) also presented as a speaker was flooded by 1.040 attendances. Superkids Indonesia contributed to enliven the atmosphere by opening a kids’ corner, where kids play and learn together. They were guided to have some Superkids Indonesia logo coloring, paper folding or origami, and face painting activities.
