Up Close and Personal with Art

Sunday Art Market (SAM) last weekend had been a magnet for people of Jakarta to swarm around Lippo Mall Kemang, Kemang Village. Since the opening day on Saturday, March 16th 2013, families were flooded into the arena.

One of the most attractive art events that stole young visitors attention was kite painting competition, with the theme ‘Nurturing the Nature’. For over half an hour, Superkids were busy decorating their kites with eye catching images such as scenery, cloud and rainbow after the rain, uphill view and an image that was quite unexpected, monster. From 28 participants, jury decided that the awards for best paint went to Widya (8), Rizky (5) dan Talita (4).

Another most visited area was Superkids Indonesia booth. The Superkids Indonesia logo coloring competition was followed by participants of various ages. Among them were Maro (12), Abimanyu (13), Nazwa  (8), Fatiha (6), Gefira (10) and Ammar (6). Thw winner went home with some cool slippers of Polliwalks.

As if it wasn’t enough, Superkids Indonesia also brought a squad of merchant to entertain the audience. From vocal school vokal Karunia Bersama Lucky (KBL), three talented young singers Nabila (10), Keefe (12) dan Vania (21). Didn’t want to fall behind, young magicians from Demian’s Magic Academy and dancers from United Dance Work (UDW) also took the stage.

“It is not every day we have such an art event aiming for kids and families, while people of Jakarta needs a space for positive activities weekend”. Ade Sri Purwaningsih, Advertising & Business Development Manager Superkids Indonesia, expressed her appreciation. “That is why we came here all out with full team to support this event,” she added on.

SAM arena was more alive with the presence of UKM booth, showing various kinds of environment friendly arts. Ika Vantiani and the Peri Kertas was among them. Ika’s booth put some gorgeous handmade accessories made of recycled materials, while Peri Kertas was busy to deliver the spirit of recycling the paper through selling the paper made wasted.

The recycling spirit fits well with the theme for this SAM, Green Earth. “Jakarta is too crowded already. Wasted and trashes are everywhere, creating very annoying pollution. If we don’t care enough, it will accumulate and become a major threat for us all,” Dimas Fuady, Excecutive Director of PT Sabda Drupadi KreasIndo, the event organizer explained.
