LOL, This Bird Laugh Like Man!

Meet Kookaburra. The origin is the eucalyptus forest in Eastern Australia, but they don’t just live in there. This 46 cm in size and 445 gr in weight bird can also be found in Tasmania, New Zealand and Papua.

What’s so special about them? Kookaburra’s tweet is so laugh and pretty much like the sound of human’s laugh. That’s why they call it Laughing Kookaburra or Laughing Jackass, when they don’t actually laugh on anything. The loud noise is their territorial marking. When one Kookaburra starts tweeting, every Kookaburra around will join it. Australian use to call the noise they make in the morning and evening as “bushman’s clock”

Unlike other birds that diet on seeds, Kookaburra is carnivorous. Among their favorite menu are mice, hamster, squirrel, lizard, other birds and snake. Kookaburra uses its 10 cm beak to snatch those preys. Despite being listed as the largest member of Kingfisher, no one has even seen them eating fish.

Kookaburra is monogamy. They nest in tree holes. Once they lay eggs, a female can have 1-5 eggs. Kookaburra’s offspring are blind and featherless. The youth usually remain with their parent to help taking care of their new born siblings. Kookaburra’s life span reaches 20 years or more. Their enemies are cats, dogs, wolfs and bigger aerial predators like eagles and owls.
