Pimp the Gingerbread and… Eat Up!

Do you happen to like gingerbread or ginger cookies? This typical Christmas menu is usually dressed up too beautiful that we feel guilty to eat it. Last Thursday, December 11th, 2014, dozens of Superkids eagerly participated in gingerbread dress up event in Grand City Mall Surabaya. The gingerbread, tools and ingredients to decorate is provided in complete sets by Kitchen Magic team. The gingerbreads were made cute and small with various shape of Xmas theme. Start from Christmas tree, cross, snowman and Santa.

Even it wasn’t a competition, Superkids were very serious decorating their cookie. “I mix up the color to bright,” said Josephine Alexandra Kwari about her Christmas tree gingerbread. Every kid was given six cake of different shape to work on. They were free to choose the shape and decoration.

Sharon Eugenia Hartanto was very anxious decorating her cakes. The girl had never do cake makeup before, yet she was pretty handy covering the gingerbread with sugar cream and spread some colorful sprinkle on. Another story with Jehezkiel Timoti, the kid only use her favorite ingredient for his gingerbread. He love chocolate, so he went for a lot of choco chips rather than colorful messes. “This way, the cookies will be finished up,” Jehezkiel reasoned.

The decorated cookies were not for display. All can be taken home and eat, after baked for about 15 minutes to make sure the makeup lasts. According to Senior Marketing Manager Grand City Mall Surabaya Jesica Juwono, decorationg gingerbread was a series of Christmas and holiday program for kids in Grand City Mall. The event aimed for Superkids of 3-8 years old, both boys and girls.

Jessice was confident that decorating cake will help expanding Superkids’ creativity and motorist muscle. “They were unconsciously play and learn at the same time. This way the kids will automatically learn to tell different colors, recognizing shape and think creatively to make the most beautiful cake. In addition,” said Jesica. Kids were also conditioned to socialize and learn to respect each other, since they were working next to some kids they most likely have never met before.

To finish the decoration, the kids must take turn using the materials provided on the table one at a time. “We didn’t let any fight over one ingredients. Our team host the show,” said the owner of Kitchen Magic, Bink Bink Moesa.
