Kembang Math and Science Fair

 

Before entering the school, many food courts, drinks and accessories were ready to welcome anyone at the gate. The center, where the Kembang Math and Science Fair took place was the school hall. The theme of this event was ‘Math and Science Can be Fun with Food’. 38 students from Kembang Schools, both from kindergarten and elementary school, participated in it.

 

 

Sided with their parents, these kids competed in showing their break through that related to math and science. Take Tamara Nilakandi Long, a fourth grade student of Kembang school for example. Along with her dad whose nationality was English, Gregory David Long, she presented a research, Yummy or Yucky. She talked a lot about worthy and unworthy food to consume. The object of her research was milk that is made into yoghurt and cheese.

 

Next to Tamara, a third grader Zavier Azka Lubis explained about the nutrient and what is in the fast food. Meanwhile, Nadine Nayla Anjani from the fourth grade, was entertaining audience with her flowing description about how potato and lemon can generate natural electricity. She describe the advantage of installing a coin as cathode (+) and a bolt (anode)  to lemon and potato. The installation allowed the light on with the power from the fruit.

Moving to the kinder garden hall, the three Vindra Mboi (grade 3), Trisha Sudirga (grade 6), dan Monis Mboi (KG B) seemed busy presenting their Glowing Pinkle experiment. They used cucumber pinkle as a medium that amazingly glowing when electricity was installed to both ends.

Marvin Suwarso, the headmaster who acted as the chairman of jury was stunned to see the work of his students. “Above all, the idea came from them self, the teachers had nothing to do with it,” he praised them.

The award for favorite contestant went to the Mbois with their Glowing Pinkle. The duet of  Gyasi Kahlitijani (grade 6) and Daniella Jahzara (grade 1) with the Eggperiment was the best contestant. The brother-sister applied egg as a medium to reveal how much coloring and preserving material and are in food.
