Hundreds of eye catching pictures spoiled visitors of Grand City Surabaya last week. Put on display on the ground floor area, the pictures were the work of 270 photographers of various age and genre. Just name them, senior photographer Darwis Triadi, and up to young photographer with worldwide achievement Teresa Patria Prasasya. From landscape to journalism.

 

“FFS is a space for dialog, brings together photographers across genre and style. Usually, if this is macro fair, all images are taken with macro technique. Now, it’s all here; macro, food, fashion, wildlife, and others,” Mamuk Ismuntoro of Matanesia Institute, the initiator of this event, explained.

 

FFS was on from May 26th to June 1st 2014. It also filled with workshop photography, book launching, selfie creative competition, and even pantomime.  One of the photo book launched there was Nurdin Razak’s “Amazing Blauran National Park”. To other photographers who’d like to walk on his footsteps, into the wild, Nurdin didn’t hold his tips back.

 

“Get familiar with the site map, before jump into the forest. Between July-December is the mating season of deer and peacock. June-July is the transition of monsoon to summer. The white clouds are so tempting to shoot,” the specialist of ecotourism and wildlife photographer, shared on the main stage in the main atrium of Grand City.

 

Boedi Heriyanto who came to Grand City with family claimed to be very excited with the presence of pictures in the corner of the mall. Take the Tanjung Perak Port across ages, on the first floor. To his grandchild who was still in elementary school, Heri showed the different between the buildings when he was a kid and those of today. “It’s amazing, pictures of Tanjung Perak since it’s first built are still exist,” the retirement of government civilian express his admiration.
