2014 Regional Robot Olympiad

 

Archie Nicholaus Yiedri didn’t take long to assemble the Lego pieces into a windmill. The second grade student of IPH School East Campus, Surabaya finished it in just 1 minute and 42 seconds. Thereby, the Pre-Botic 2 (Elementary School grade 1-3) trophy went to Archie. In comparable to Archie was Daniel Angkawijaya. He was only four years old, yet he managed to construct the Lego only within 1 minute and 5 seconds. Daniel won the 3-4 years old category.

 

Aside of Archie and Daniel, hundreds of Lego fans kids scrambled in atrium Grand City Mall, Surabaya, February 8-9, 2014. They came from Surabaya, Malang, Solo, Semarang, Bali and other places just to attend the 2014 Regional Robot Olympiad. This prestigious annual event had long been anticipated since the 2007 event.

 

According to the chairman of the committee Jevilian Rahma (Citra), the number of online registered participants via www.e-robokidz.com reached 250. To be in the event, they must come to the arena in Surabaya. “Participants were divided into eight categories. The prize is one set of Lego, merchandise and saving,” Citra explained.

 

For Speed Building competition, participants raced to reconstruct Lego made by Robokidz team, within the limited time of 15 minutes. The fastest to get it done is the winner. “I’m a big fan of Lego. Being in many competition and always win,” said Archie in proud while showing his trophy.
