When Street Magican Move Into Mall
The name Benno Six may still sound a stranger for us, Superkids. He is a magician from Germany who often fills many occasions in Japan, Qatar and some other countries. Recently, Benno dropped by to Surabaya, Indonesia to entertain audience at Tunjungan Plasa (TP) shopping centre.
On weekdays, Benno performed twice a day at the atrium TP3. In weekends, Benno took three times on stage. Benno’s act started on Wednesday, June 25th 2014 and ended Sunday July 6th 2014. Every time Benno stepped on stage, dozens of kids would gathered around the stage, eager to watch the magic. Unfortunately, Benno didn’t seem to pay much of attention. He didn’t spend time to socialize with the kids who had been waiting for quite some times and just went on with the game.
At first, he pulled out a line of card from his mouth. Then he tore apart a sheet of paper into small pieces. And with one wave of hand, the pieces came back into a full sheet of paper. Benno who used to perform on the street side then stepped off the stage. He chose to interact with audience in his show. “No need to follow me, just watch on the big screen,” Benno pushed back the bunch of kids who were trying to follow and watch him closer.
He then approached a girl and showed a Rp 500 coin. Benno asked the girl to transfer some cold energy to the coin, but nothing happened. What if it’s Benno? Surely the outcome is different, Superkids. He blew the white tissue wrapped coin to freeze. Benno also show his skill of eating balloon (yes, putting the balloon a whole into mouth) and cellphone into a bottle. Any guess how he made it disappear? He tap the bottle onto a stomach of an audience wearing Germany football team t-shirt, his homeland. People’s eyes were popping out to see such big bottle just vanished.
“Not that cool. I was hoping for living rabbits or water balloons and stuffs,” Angel Lifia, a young audience complained. “It’s obvious the magician just wanted to get it done quickly. Not cool. I don’t enjoy this,” Nesya Astarina, another young audience replied. She and her friends then played on the arena in front of the stage after Benno left.
