3 Keys of Raising Tough Superkids

Roslina Verauli, a physiolog for children shared to Superkids Indonesia 3 points in raising tough superkids. They are I am, I have and I can.

1. Willing to admit that not everything is perfect.

As Superparent, it’s only normal if Supermom and Superdad become the center of Superkids’ world. They will always be there for Superkids with all they have. Actually, this will promote the fragility of Superkids’ personality.

Superparents are not always there when Superkids need them to be. Take for example when on a playground, Superkids get rejected by a group of friends. Try cheer them up and ask how he feels when it happens. After that get them involved in a discussion with perspective and creativity. Don’t be surprised if from the maturity Superparents shows them, Superkids  are able to become a strong persona, capable of positive ideas to solve their problems.

2. Show, not say!

Modeling is one of the best way to passing on values to Superkids. No matter how hard Supermom and Superdad try to tell them what’s the best, it won’t work on teaching Superkids about values such as curiosity, discipline and toughness. Superparents must begin with own experience.

Mistakes are not the main issue, it can be fixed. For example when Superkids complaint about homework, piano class and such, take advantage of this opportunity to be the model of commitment and persistent. Ask them to observe the phases they have been through one step at a time, how much their skill improves along the exercises. Don’t forget to praise them on any accomplishment.

3. Toughness starts from Superparent!

As parents, Supermom and Superdad often find a situation of upsetting, frustrating and sad. Try to focus on one self, do what it takes for a self reorientation and become a better parent. Self attention and compassion plays major part here, in order to create both tough Superparents and Superkids!

We sure aim to create tough Superkids, don’t you agree Supermom and Superdad!
