Is the little one a social kid?

It’s not clustering, but these groupings of kids at school do exist. By looking at this, we get to see how well is the social skill of the kid. Furthermore, we get to estimate their function within the social class now and in the future. We also had an opportunity to anticipate and increase the kids’ social skill in case they belong to the asocial type.

A physiologist Michael Thompson has conducted a research about hierarchy of social status at school and here are the results. However, Thompson also stressed that these grouping is not judging, comparing or alter the kids’ personal character. However, every kid is unique and special with their own way.

The Very Popular Kids

Usually belong to the “alpha males” and “queen bees”. These kids are physically stand out and more athletic. They are good in communication and pose leadership character over other groups. Most of the time the group has advanced social skills, able to attract every kid to become their friends and often become the leader of many “followers”.

The Popular Kids (Accepted)

Most kids are in this particular group. They are not the “leader” but categorized as popular. These kids are smart and social but less aggressive at school.

Average Kids

The group is not viewed as popular or not popular by the others. However they do have friends of the same group.

Neglected Kids

Some kids belong to this class. They are less talkative, good students but not very active socially. It takes a while for these kids to make friends. Teachers pay minor attention to this group because they are rather good academically. Nonetheless, this group actually need attention from teachers and their parents.

Controversial Kids

This group stands somewhere between liked and disliked by others. Kids of this group usually the “class clown”. The class like them because they are funny but dislike them for their pranks. However, this group pose high loyal value and rebellion who stand against the teacher.

Rejected Kids

The highest risky kids. There are two types of kids in this group. A “rejected-submissive” kids who usually are very shy and cover up their self, and the “rejected-aggressive” who can explode emotionally when cornered.
