Mistakes We Make with Lunchbox

Endang Purnamasari is grumpy all day long. It’s a minor thing, actually. She is upset because the lunchbox she prepared for her daughter Ermita Anastasya came home almost full, except her favorite five grapes. Endang has purchased a bento set to mold a butterfly rice for her pretty 5 grade students. “What can i say? Maybe she just doesn’t like my cooking,” Endang regretted.

There are some very common mistakes Supermom might do when preparing lunchbox for Superkids. Check this list out.

Too Much

In many cases, with the ‘Better too much than less’ motto, Supermom goes to prepare bigger portion than what the kids normally have at home. Or, perhaps it is due to the mistake in purchasing the big bento. If this keeps going on, the kids will drains out appetite and eventually lost for being forced to finish jumbo portion. For kids with two breaks, have two sets of meal. The first can be rice/noodle/potato. The second is lighter, some fruit or healthy snack.

Doesn’t Match Taste

Wanting to encourage the kids to eat veggie, many Supermom prepare kinds of vegetable for lunchbox. For kids who don’t like green, this surely is annoying. The same goes with spicy meal, too much oil, too salty or such. “My kid only wants to eat new cooked rice. He doesn’t want the rice from last night and warmed in the morning,” Nofilawati Anita, mother of one son shared.

Strange Menu

Make sure what’s in the lunchbox is something they ate before. Of the menu is something new, he most likely will not touch it. What about the picky eater? Try discus what to put in. If necessary, try out the menu. If they like it, tell them, “Okay, this will be your lunchbox menu for tomorrow.”

Metal is Left Out

Eating tool is a must in the lunchbox. Spoon is for rice and the side dishes, fork is for noodle and small chopped meal.

Shaken up and Mess

Put the tomato, hot, dark ketchup and mayonnaise into separate container like small plastic box. If you just pour some into the same box, Supermom, it can messy when shaken. For food with soup, put into an airtight container. Make sure that Superkids can open it later.

Prohibited at School

Yes, correct. Some schools do apply special regulation about meal to consume at school. It is possible that instant noodle, junk food and fries are among the black list. Ask the kids about this before prepping the lunchbox.
