Proper Nutrition for Kids

In Indonesia, January 25 is celebrated as National Nutrition Day. Nutritional management was pioneered by Prof Poorwo Soedarmo in 1950. As the head of the Institute of People’s Food or Instituut voor Volksvoeding (IVV), he conducted nutrition education to the community who was still illiterate and poor at that time. Today, nutrition education faces different challenges. There are so many types of food, and we must select the healthiest.

Superparent, kids need proper nutrition to grow and thrive. Not less nutrition, but not too much either. Proper nutrition in childhood can reinforce lifelong eating habits. Nutrition and what they eat can positively or negatively influence their future health.

Unfortunately, some parents over-think what to do about their kid’s eating habits. They give way to practices like forcing kids to clean their plates. Even, some parents don’t think about nutrition at all, letting their kids eat a lot of junk food and drink a lot of wasteful juice.

So, we must learn a lot to figure out what to feed kids. One mom tells us juice is healthy, while another says it’s the worst thing in the world. One book tells us something, other book tells us the opposite. When it comes to feeding our kid, we should find a good advice and practical to kids. Not every advice is practicable to every kids.

It is important that our kids eat a good balance of healthy food. They must also be supplied with the correct nutrients to maintain health and develop properly. We also need to practice our kids in order to establish healthy eating patterns, that can remain with them through to adulthood.
