Let’s Yoga, Kids! (1)

Need some free, fun and healthy athletic activity with kids? Why not yoga, Supermom? Yes, yoga. There are some reasons why this kind of sport is good to do together with  Superkids.

First, yoga builds self confident. A child will always perfect in yoga. Physically, yoga builds Superkids’ strength, balance, focus, flexibility and coordination with its every move. Mentally and emotionally, it gives even greater impact. Kids who regularly do yoga will excel academically, better behave in daily life and self control.

Interested, Supermom? There are many things that make yoga easy. It doesn’t have to be indoor, we can do yoga in the open too. We can even choose to practice with DVD guidance, while of course it will be better to join in kids’ yoga class. To make sure we have proper trainer, make sure he/she has certificate from reputable kids yoga program, and 200+ hours of adult class. Better yet, look for a trainer who is experienced working with children, to make it easier in developing connection and trust.

Yoga is not that difficult, Supermom. It combines meditation, (dharana), breathe (pranayama), physical pose (asana), and personal element of growth (yama/niyama). The meditation takes only 5-10 minutes, with or without breathing either in earlier stage or by the end of exercise. Despite the short duration, kids will learn a lot about calming down, focus and avoiding rage.

Breathing exercise is just as important. Kids will be trained to use the inhaling as daily tool to control anger, frustration and other negative emotions. And the moves? Typically starts from the simplest to the most challenging and difficult ones. Don’t be afraid the kids will have dislocation bones or something like that, Supermom. Yoga trains flexibility and not pushing the same move to every kid.

Not only yoga changes our body, our life with Superkids too. Have fun practicing.
