Wulan and friends fasting

Sss….the breeze swirled the trees on morning. The sun was getting high, yet he jungle was still quiet and silent. Hmm…why was it? Oh so it was of fasting days. Animals are fasting too, just like us, Superkids.

In front of the animal school, the elephant teacher was already waiting for the not yet coming students. The teacher was standing neat and fresh waiting for his students. “I hope they are on time”, he mumbled.

The morning silence was broken by a voice “uuu…aaa…uuu….aaa” from the trees above. Who was that? The owner of the voice was hanging on the branches. From behind the tree she jumped. So it was Wulan the monkey.

“Assalamualaikum teacher, I’m here” Wulan greeted with smile. Wulan stayed cheered during fasting.

“Waalaikumussalam Wulan, teacher replied.

Something noise from the bushes. And there Herman the tiger jumped out. “Auumm…. I’m here teacher,” Herman said.

And more animal kids showed up to the school that morning. The school was getting crowd. Everyone had something the tell about the first fasting day. “I went to Tarawih in nearby mosque last night with mom”’ Wulan shared. “me too, I did too,” other animals responded.

It’s time for the class and teacher invited the kids to get inside. “Come kids, into the classroom!” teacher commanded.

Suddenly, from the lake an animal was flying. Who it might be? He came in low to the school and said “wek..wek..wek…teacher, I’m coming!” Oh so it’s Billy the duck just arrived. He came panting after rushing in afraid to be late. Teacher was teaching about the deeds in Ramadhan. “What are the deeds in Ramadhan? He asked. “fasting, tarawih, reciting Al Quran,” Wulan answered.

Billy popped out, “So there are lot’s of deeds in Ramadhan”.

Time flew by, they had break. Little animals went to play in front of the school. Wulan was jumping over branches when she spotted the bushes behind the school was moving. Hmm…what’s that? Wulan approached quietly.

“Psstt….quiet please!” Billy said. Wulan found Billy was having meal there. “What are you doing Billy? Wulan Asked. Billy hurried to hide his meal.

“Just chilling, Billy lied. “What’s that in your hand?” said Wulan. “Nothing, said Billy.

“Are you eating something Billy? Aren’t you fasting? Wulan asked again. Caught he handed, Billy answered,” yes, I’m not fasting today. I woke up late this morning and I missed sahur. We have to have sahur before fasting, right?

“No Billy, we can still fast without sahur. It’s sunnah, not a mandatory. Even when you miss sahur, you can go on fasting,” Wulan advised Billy.

“Oh is that so. I will wake up earlier tomorrow and have sahur so I am strong enough to fast

So now Billy knew that even when he wake up late and missed the sahur, fasting must go on. Sahur is not mandatory but it’s better to do so we have enough power and have the good sunnah deed.
